You may recognize Anita Patrickson from past Simply Stylist panels or from all the tips she gives in your favorite glossies like Harper's Bazaar.  She also founded a 3-day course to actually BECOME a stylist (produced by Simply Stylist) called The International Style Institute.  Coming up next is the annual NYC Styling Course from June 2-4th in partnership with Allure + Conde Nast and Brookfield Place.  It's an extremely intimate, hands on course and students leave with images from a professional photoshoot styled by them, a syllabus, a certificate of completion and granted access to the alumni network and so much more. If you're serious about a career in styling, this is a must attend—and you get a special discount by entering code SIMPLYSTYLIST. This will save you 20% (over $350)! SS: You style high-profile clients like Julianne Hough, Michelle Rodriguez, and Olivia Culpo. What’s your favorite part about being a celebrity stylist? I love mixing personalities and style. Thats always fascinating to see how a person wants to express themselves.

SS: Obviously a stylist has to stay in-the-know on the latest fashions. What trends do you think will be huge this summer? This summer I think we'll seeing retro stripes, cool exposed shoulders and interesting cuts, 80's vibes, and lots of yellow!

SS: And conversely, what trends should be retired? Time to put away sky high heels! Women are way more interested in comfort and practicality. Skinny stretch jeans are out; vintage and retro silhouettes are in!

SS: Any summer style tips for looking chic in the heat? Stiff old school cottons are a huge trend, plus they have the added bonus of being cool and comfortable in the heat. Chic straw boater style hats are a great way to stay cool and elevate your look!

SS: Dressing for office environments in the summer can be a big challenge. What do you recommend people wear so they look office-appropriate without overheating?Floaty skirts and loose blouses are a great way to stay chic and office appropriate without over heating. Add a cute belt and some fab statement earrings. Ditch trouser suits and tight heels!

SS: What’s one styling hack you’ve learned that everyone should know? Have a fabulous tailor on speed dial! Hemming a pair of pants doesn't need to be expensive but will take your look from drab to fab. I wont do a fitting without my seamstress, she's my secret weapon. If you don't know anyone, you local dry cleaner will probably have someone wonderful who can do all the basics you might need.
