How Simply Founder Sarah Boyd is Turning her House into a Home

featured.jpg

Simply Stylist Founder Sarah Boyd has been going through tons of changes lately. She was recruited by TargetStyle to participate in the "Target Loves Every Body" swimwear campaign, which took her from behind the desk to in front of the camera to shoot the most popular body positive swimwear ad of the summer. She also recently announced that she and her husband are expecting their first child together and on top of all that, she purchased and moved into her very first home. What a whirlwind! Over the last couple of months, Sarah has been working away, decorating her new house. Between planning and traveling for conferences and managing the Simply Digital Network roster, it's been no easy task. Sarah's goal has not only been to make her house feel warm for her growing family, but also to maintain her chic aesthetic in this new space. Take a look below for a tour of Sarah's new home and get some styling inspo for a space of your own!

Hey guys!  Welcome to my NEW HOME!  Within the time span of a few short months, we sold our previous home, bought our new house, found out we were expecting a little girl and have of course been busy with Simply Stylist, Simply Digital Network and International Style Institute.  Go big or go home, right?

I'm so excited to show you around.  Since I had a tight deadline of two months before my husband's big 40th birthday bash, I knew I needed some help with the design.  I hired Jennifer Wallenstein of HomePolish.  By far they were the best decision I've made in a long time.  Jennifer came to my (then) empty home, did some measurements and got a feel for our aesthetic and vibe we were going for.  Within a few days, she had a CAD drawing along with her design inspiration - which she nailed!  We loved everything she chose and started the ordering process.  The best part of working with HomePolish is benefiting from their industry discounts with almost every home vendor such as Crate & Barrel, West Elm, Wayfair and more.  Jennifer would give us 2-3 options for each item, and we'd decide our favorite.  This helped us so much, because I get so overwhelmed when there are endless options!

ENTRYWAY

I absolutely adore the open and airy feel of our home when you walk in the door....but man is it tough to fill the space!  Jennifer had the idea of adding an entry table along with a Moroccan rug and I couldn't agree with her more.  It helped to divide the space up, with the addition of the sprigs it came to life!

LIVING ROOM

We had even more space to fill, so we created a formal living room setting with an art wall and then a more casual living room area where our TV is by the backyard.

ART WALL

My favorite part of the house!  Keep it Simple is our motto, we brought the wire deer frame to incorporate our small town roots.  Kyle is from Indiana and I'm from Pennsylvania.

DEN

We really wanted this part of the house to be comfortable!  Our family likes to snuggle up at night with popcorn and binge on Netflix so wanted a place we could feel cozy, kick up our feet or even sit on the ground.

DINING ROOM

I absolutely love this room!  I wasn't a fan of the light green walls upon moving in, but with the decor finished, I've changed my tune.  The DIY wall piece is one of my favorites in this room. It's actually shelving purchased from IKEA, glued together with lumber and some polish & paint.   I also LOVE our big dining room table.  We enjoy entertaining, so this year - Thanksgiving is at The Boyd's Nest!  Our art choices for this room were also very personal including the foil print zodiac constellations of the four of us (Cancer, Leo, Pisces & Aquarius).  On the other wall we included a fun print of the California coastline and a vintage map of Belize we picked up on our sailing trip there.

KITCHEN

This kitchen was definitely one of the selling points of the house!  There is so much space to cook, entertain and it's extremely open so you can still interact with guests.  We didn't need to add much to it, but of course a few fun things that went IN the cabinets.  Also, if you know anything about us - you know that we love beer!  We've got a kegerator outside and collect unique steins and tap handles from our travels.  You'll see they've all made an appearance in our kitchen.

MASTER BEDROOM

We aren't QUITE finished with our bedroom yet, but we're so close I had to include it.  We love snuggling up in bed and being pregnant, I spend more time here than I'd like to admit.  That's why I do make the investment in bedding - so important!  Our master bathroom is our sanctuary which is why I chose the horse portrait - I thought it was very calming and serene.

BACKYARD

We LOVE to entertain, and our backyard is the perfect spot for it!  Living in the valley, temps can easily creep up over 100, so a pool was a must on our list.  Eventually we'll be building out a bar and grill area by the garage, we've got tons of yard games and our Sonos sound system pumping!
