MEET THE STYLIST: JESSICA PASTER
A Conversation with Jessica Paster: Celebrity & Editorial Stylist
Los Angeles native Jessica Paster fell in love with the beautiful chaos of styling after being introduced to a professional celebrity stylist. She spent several years assisting some of the best in the biz before celebrities started requesting her services independently. From there, her career escalated with amazing speed. In addition to dressing Hollywood's elite for a variety of occasions, including red carpet events and awards shows, Jessica has more than 15 years of experience styling editorial photo shoots and advertisements.
Paster currently styles Emily Blunt, Miranda Kerr, Elle and Dakota Fanning, Leslie Mann, Andrea Risebrough and Felicity Jones.
Tell us the story behind your favorite wardrobe item
Jessica: I have two favorite items! One one them is my Azzedine Alaia leggings. It doesn't matter what season it is or if my dog, Winston, tore into them. I'll still continue to wear them. My other favorite item is my JustFab little black basket weave booties. You can always find me in them whether it's summer or fall. They have seen too many trips to the shoe repair...but I still love them!
What’s your most memorable ‘panic moment’?
Jessica: I was styling Kim Basinger for the Oscars the year she was nominated and the tailoring came back HORRIBLE! I had to get the tailoring fixed so I ended up driving on the shoulder of the road for over 20 miles on the 101 freeway. I got it back to Kim just in time to get her into it (with a perfect fit) for her big night.
How did you recover from it gracefully?
Jessica: I got back 5 minutes before she had to get in the car!
What is your favorite era for fashion?
What was your big break?
Jessica: The year that I dressed Minnie Driver and Kim Basinger for the 1997 Academy Awards...that was an amazing moment!
Whose closet would you most like to raid?
Jessica: There are too many to name but here are a few...Valentino, Giambattista Valli, Prabal Gurung, Michael Kors, Proenza Schouler, John Galliano, Gucci, Carolina Herrera, Jason Wu, Elie Saab, Balenciaga, Givenchy, Tom Ford, Oscar De la Renta
