With the end of 2019 vastly coming to a close, we can all look back at not just the year of 2019 but the end of the decade. The 2010s were a period of pioneering and firsts as far as the influencer industry is concerned. The rise of social media and streaming services have forever changed our way of life. It is important to keep in mind as you go forward into the fabulous 2020s, that we reflect on long term goals and resolutions for this next step of this new era. 

Redefine Your Brand’s Focus For The New Decade

It’s the start of a brand new decade of influence! The new year is always a great time to start over and plan for the future, and the start of a new decade brings about an even bigger sense of revitalization. Take this time to think critically about your goals and brand identity moving forward. Maybe you’ve been thinking about switching things up and showcasing a passion that you previously haven’t shared on social media. Maybe it’s launching a YouTube channel to compliment your growing Instagram. Perhaps it’s narrowing your focus and finding the niche needed to stand out in an ever-crowded influencer field. Whatever that change or redefinition may be, use these next few weeks to hone in on that new direction.

Learn A New Social Media Platform 

You know we adore Instagram, but there are so many other social media platforms out there that can help expand your audience. Find a new one to master in 2020. Whether it’s a new one like TikTok that’s popular with young crowds, or just diving deeper into a pre-existing platform like YouTube or Pinterest, don’t be afraid to try something new and experiment with different types of content!

Build A Vision Board For Dream Collaborations And Milestones

We are big believers in setting intentions for each new year and making those goals physically visible. One easy way to do that is by creating a vision board (check out our guide HERE in case you need some help making one). Set both personal and professional goals here. Is there a brand you are dying to collaborate with? A follower milestone you’re aiming to hit in 2020? A lifelong dream you are hoping to fulfill? Putting those goals down on paper will help to focus your energy on these pursuits and hopefully make them a reality.

Develop A “Series” For One Of Your Channels

One trend we’re noticing with influencers and brands alike is that many of them are creating regular series on their channels. From weekly IGTV videos focused on a particular issue or topic to a monthly newsletter, creating a series that drops at a regular interval (could be weekly, monthly, biweekly, daily...whatever you are comfortable with) will help cultivate your individual brand and build credibility with your audience, as they know that they can always come back to your channel for this content. 

Use Your Influence For Good

As “influencing” becomes an increasingly popular field, we’ve also seen a lot of backlash to the influencer world. A few bad apples have developed a general feeling of mistrust of influencer marketing, but we are hoping that in 2020, the world can see the positive sides of influence. This year, take time to reflect on how you are using your social media platforms to connect with your audience and enact positive change. We urge you to find a cause you are passionate about and become a true advocate for that cause. Use your channels to discuss an issue that people need to talk about more, or drive your followers to support a charity you hold dear. The more we use our influence to spread positivity and kindness in the world, the better!
