Tell us the story behind your favorite wardrobe item
At the moment it's my little Phillip Lim Pashli Satchel in Orange. It's the perfect summer accessory and adds color to all of my outfits. I love cross body bags because when I work I need both hands to be free so I can shop or pull clothes. The bag is light weight and makes all of my outfits look fresh. For shoes I have been living in my Modern Vice Jett's. They are so comfortable and make everything look cool.
What's your most memorable 'panic moment'?
I honestly can't think of anything too crazy at the moment. It usually has something to do with having the right shoes for an outfit. Shoes always seem to be the tricky part of my job. You could have the perfect look but if the shoes aren't great then it can break the whole thing. At a red carpet event I realized I had the totally wrong shoe for my client. I almost had a heart attack!
How did you recover from it gracefully?
I always have an emergency list of shoe designers and contacts to call just in case. My go to gal is Montana Rader who has the best designer shoe rental business. www.montanarader.com
What is your favorite era for fashion?
Right now, this very moment. Fashion is really fun these days! A lot of the old rules no longer apply and I think that it's a great era to be creative and find your own personal style. There is so much inspiration online and affordable fashion forward clothing. Back in the 80's and 90's you had to have a lot of money to look chic. That is not the case anymore these days. There is also incredible vintage these days to pull from and build your wardrobe.
What was your big break?
I'd say it was when I started working with the amazing celebrity photographer Timothy White. I had a chance to style so many great celebrities working with him from Uma Thurman to Kate Hudson and the Olsen Twins. I just worked with Whoopi Goldberg the other day with Timothy and it was amazing! It was so cool to be in the presence of such a Legend as Whoopi!
Whose closet would you most like to raid?
Madonna's. I can imagine she would have a really well curated collection. Her style has changed so many times over the years and she must really have some great over the top pieces.
Who are your favorite designers?
Alexander McQueen, Givency, Balenciaga, Alexander Wang and Phillip Lim. I'm also really loving Marissa Webb's new collection.
