Struggling to define your niche on social media or looking to redefine your personal brand identity?

Here are 4 questions you can ask yourself to narrow your focus and determine what your brand is on your social media channels:

1. What content categories are you passionate about sharing?

Are you only showcasing your outfits of the day, or beauty looks? Are you sharing inspiring quotes and imagery? Is your hope to be an overall lifestyle influencer who covers a variety of topics? You can get as narrow or as broad as you want when determining the categories you’ll be posting, but having an overarching idea of your major categories will help refine your content.

2. How would you define your style and aesthetic in 5 words?

Everyone has a personal style, so use it to guide the creative direction of your channels! Are you dark and moody, or bright and airy, or maybe even colorful and saturated? Do you prefer to be silly or serious? Take some time to write down 5 words that best describe your style and personality, and use those words as the driving forces to develop your brand style and voice.

3. How will you set yourself apart from others in your space?

There are more and more influencers every day, so identifying what makes you unique is crucial to standing out in a saturated space. Do you have a unique background or story that provides you with a different viewpoint than most? Are you creating game-changing content that challenges what is possible on social media? Are you connecting with your audience in ways that other influencers fail to do?

4. What are your goals behind creating content?

These days, it isn’t enough to just post pretty pictures and hope that the followers show up. The content you create needs to have meaning. Generally, this content can fall into 3 major categories of intention: education, inspiration, and entertainment. Your content can fit 1 one of these 3 categories or be all 3 at the same time, but each post you share should fall into at least 1 of these categories. If you don’t feel like a post is either educating, inspiring, or entertaining, you might want to ask yourself if it is necessary to share at all, or redefine your post so it fits into a category.
